Take the Road to the Isles and Coigach
Welcome to the Coigach Peninsula, a peaceful area of great geological and archaeological interest. Here you can relax and enjoy all manner of pursuits. There are hills and rocks to climb, birds to see and fish to catch. At Raa junction you will find detailed information about what is on offer in the area.

To enjoy
Coigach at it’s most scenic turn right and go up through Achnahaird with
its magnificent sandy beach. At the end of the long straight pause and
look back at the beauty of the mountains of the north west
highlands.
Carry on along this road towards Altandhu. At the top of the hill is a short walk to the viewpoint where you will see the beautiful sights of Old Dornie Harbour, Isle Ristol and Mullagrach. |

At the bottom of the hill turn right for a short drive to Reiff. This is a must for rock climbers and those who enjoy a gentle walk. Following the road, to the left, takes you through Altandhu with the old red sandstone schoolhouse. As you near Polbain, the Summer Isle come into view and mountains of Coigach & Wester Ross. Badentarbet Green, with its traditional stone sheep fank, is a popular picnic spot and looks onto the Island of Tanera Mor. Further along the road there is a junction, carry on right to Achiltibuie. The war memorial is a reminder to those we lost in the wars. On through the Polglass and down to Badenscallie’s tranquil shore where many enjoy to watch sealife or wander through the old cemetry. |

When you take the coastal road to Lochinver you may see golden eagles soaring high above Inverpolly. Please remember to drive carefully on these single track roads. The car behind might be the doctor so please allow overtaking. |
